At JET Builder’s, we understand that building a home is a big deal. Some are on a tight budget to provide a home for their young family; some have saved for years to build their dream home; some want a simple package home and others have custom plans. Whatever stage of life and however simple or custom your plans, we have the expertise to make the building process as efficient and stress-free as possible. Here is a simple guide of what to expect:
Custom or Package Home?
Have you found the perfect floor plan? If not, check out some package home options at our local material houses:
If none of those fit your needs, there are hundreds of plans online. Take some time to search for a plan that checks all of your boxes. If you can’t find exactly what you want, then a custom home may be what you are looking for.
Find a Draftsperson
We have a list of draftspersons we recommend to get your plans exactly how you want them. Please contact us here to request this information.
Apply for a Building Permit
Once you have a set of plans, we can help walk you through the permitting process. For more information about what that looks like, click on the link below to go to the County of Hawaii Building permit information.
Get a FREE cost estimate
After you have a complete set of plans, send them to us for a proposal free of charge. If you like what you see, we require a small deposit to draft up the specifications and construction contract.
Funding your Build
If you plan to finance your build, your project will be bonded through one of the local material houses (either HPM or Honsador). The bond company works directly with the bank and the bank releases funds directly to them. We work with the bond company to request funds as needed throughout the construction process.
If you plan to pay cash, the middle-man is eliminated and we will work directly with you for payment throughout the construction process.
Get Building!
Our specialty! The Owner receives a projected building timeline and customer information sheet that is designed to guide them through the building process with ease. This process serves to ensure peace of mind, empowering the customer with the information they need to make timely and knowledgeable decisions while maximizing a positive experience for the customer as they become equipped with the ability to participate in the buidling process.
